RSPCA Cheltenham & East Gloucestershire Branch
The Branch provides food, shelter and medical care for rescued animals until they can be found suitable new homes. We rehome dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and other small animals from our rehoming centre on the edge of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. Thanks to a network of local volunteers and homecheckers, we can rehome our animals to any area of the UK.
We receive no government funding for our work and although we fall under the umbrella of the national RSPCA headquarters, we do not receive large amounts of funding. Instead we rely on donations and fundraising activities to keep going and your support is very important to us. In an average year our costs are around £76,000!
Apart from employing a part time Branch Administrator, the Cheltenham and East Gloucestershire Branch of the RSPCA is run entirely by volunteers. As well as dog rescue, cat rescue and animal adoption our activities also include the promotion of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership in the local area, including neutering and microchipping. In some circumstances the Branch is able to provide minimal financial assistance towards veterinary costs to pet owners on low incomes (subject to meeting the necessary criteria).
