Animal Futures:
The Big Conversation
Animals’ futures are in our hands. The Big Conversation brought people together to shape a better future.
What is Animal Futures: The Big Conversation?
It takes everyone to create a better world for every animal. Animal Futures: The Big Conversation is a chance to share your vision of a better world for every kind, and explore how we can create it together.
Between 23 January and 28 February, we invited people across England and Wales to share their views. We asked how we treat animals now and what changes are needed to improve their lives in the future.
The topics covered:
- How we use animals (e.g. in sport, entertainment and as pets)
- Animals and technology
- Farmed animals and food
- Animals in the wild
From 17 March to 6 April, people across England and Wales shared their ideas for a better future for animals. This included everyday actions individuals can take, to steps governments should lead, to changes needed in industries, workplaces, schools, and communities.
These online conversations helped shape a series of in-depth discussions by a citizens’ assembly, which ran from 17 May to 12 July 2025.
The next steps for Animal Futures
In November, we’ll publish a report outlining what we’ve learned. These outcomes will guide our campaigning efforts and help us push the Government to take meaningful action. We’ll encourage everyone to play a part in building a better world for every animal - one where all are treated with kindness and respect.
