RSPCA Barnsley - Volunteer Ambassador Scheme
One of the primary goals of our branch is to raise awareness of our presence in Barnsley and our efforts to promote the importance of animal welfare to all residents in the Barnsley area. We strongly believe that one of the key ways to do this is through education.
We want to build a relationship with the schools in our area to ask if they would like to be involved, in some way, in helping us achieve these goals. There are many activities that schools can take part in to help us raise awareness and fundraise, all of which can build a child's skills base in various ways.
In Barnsley we are lucky to be part of a network of RSPCA trained school speakers called the Volunteer Ambassador Scheme. This new scheme caters specifically to the Key Stage 2 age range with the aim of igniting a passion for animal welfare with children. We will come to you during a whole school or year group assembly to answer all the question you have about the RSPCA.
There is also a free support programme available for teachers and professionals working with young children which is accessible through the national society website at www.rspca.org.uk/education.
We would be delighted to hear from you if you feel that this scheme would be of interest to you and your students. Please contact us on rspcabarnsley@hotmail.co.uk or call on 07870 989164.
