Welcome to the wonderful world of Lady W...A super speedy, energetic, fun and extremely loving spaniel who arrived in our care very underweight, scared and covered in her own faeces and urine. She was also trying her very best to nurse her 5 little puppies who were only 10 days!
After lots of gentle encouragement (and cheese and sausage!) we earned Lady's trust and this is when we saw her true personality shine through. She forms very strong bonds with her handlers and once bonded she is your best friend! New owners will need to be willing to come up to our centre regularly and multiple times to also earn her trust! It's clear that she hasn't been treated very nicely in her previous home and has probably nursed lots of litters in her short life.
Despite all of this, she does know some basic commands but new owners will need to continue her training especially when it comes to housetraining. She is more than likely always going to have a nervous side to her and would therefore suit a quiet household with limited visitors and her own safe space/room where she can choose to go should she feel uncomfortable. She is avoidant with other dogs and would therefore likely to be the only dog but she is happy to walk alongside others on lead. She isn't reactive to dogs or difficult to manage around them, she just chooses to avoid them.
Lady lives for a tennis ball, so much so that we do limit her play as she would literally keep going until her legs drop off! She is very high energy and needs lots of other mental stimulation. She loves to do sniff and search activities and going for long walks in the countryside.
Lady would suit an experienced, active, adult home with owners who are looking to do agility/flyball or somethig similar. Her ideal home would be semi-rural so that she can slowly adjust to all the noises, sights and smells of the big wide world.
Lady has progressed so much during her time with us and we know she will blossom even more once she has settled into her forever home.
