Viewing our animals
ANIMAL ADOPTION PROCEDURE & VIEWING
Direct viewing of our animals is only available by appointment once you have chosen your new pet. Lots of visitors can be very stressful and overwhelming for our animals particularly as they are often from difficult backgrounds. Research and observation have shown us that our animals are less stressed when visitor numbers are reduced. We have seen reduced vocalisation, destruction and fearful behaviours with the reduced visitor numbers walking around our animal centre.
Many of the animals in our care have had a tough time in the past and require considerable rehabilitation with our staff prior to rehoming. We need to ensure that we have the perfect match for anyone considering adopting one of our animals.
Our staff are highly trained to assist you in finding the correct match for your personal circumstances and this will on occasion mean steering you away from an unsuitable match.
Step 1 – View our animals online from the comfort of your own home or visit our reception any day except Wednesday between 11.00 – 1.00 or 2.00 – 4.00 where you can view the animals on our digital screen.
Step 2 – Complete a perfect match application form and return to the animal centre for consideration. A team member will then contact you to discuss in more detail.
(Application links are provided on our website along with the animal’s details)
Step 3 - Your chosen animal will be placed on reservation and an appointment will be made and you will be given the opportunity to interact with your chosen pet to ensure compatibility. A pre-home visit will be conducted. In some situations, we may recommend minor changes to ensure your home is as pet friendly as possible.
