Are you passionate about animals and looking for a new challenge which will make a big difference in helping cats and kittens in the Durham, North Yorkshire and Tees Valley areas?
If you are looking to join an exciting new project which helps rehabilitate and rehome cats and kittens, we’re looking for proactive and self-motivated Rehoming Coordinator to lead our Cat Project Team.
The RSPCA Sunderland, Hartlepool and South Tyneside Branch (registered charity 232265) has been chosen as the lead Branch in an exciting new RSPCA partnership, with the RSPCA Darlington & District, RSPCA Middlesbrough South Tees & District, RSPCA North Teesside and District and RSCPA Northallerton, Thirsk and the Dales branches, that aims to help rehabilitate and rehome cats and kittens rescued from across these branch areas.
In this role you will work closely with the local RSPCA Inspectorate and afore mentioned Branches to run the new Cat Project to ensure all cats and kittens entering the project’s care receive timely and appropriate assessment, rehabilitation and treatment. And where suitable are found loving new homes through the RSPCA adoption process.
To succeed in the role, you will need to:
- be a good communicator with good interpersonal skills
- able to work well on your own initiative and as part of a small team
- have demonstrable experience of working with, caring for and rehabilitating cats and kittens
- have excellent prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly and effectively
- have a full clean, driving licence
- enjoy working in a structured animal welfare environment knowing you are making a positive difference.
As the Rehoming Coordinator you will be responsible for the day to day management of the intake, care and rehabilitation, and rehoming of cats entering the Project. You will also be expected to help recruit and manage Project volunteers to support the Project’s Animal Welfare work.
We are especially keen to hear from candidates from all backgrounds who can demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate
- Demonstrable experience of caring for and rehabilitating cats and kittens
- Proven ability to recruit, manage and motivate volunteers
- Understanding of health and safety legislation and requirements within a cattery environment.
- Demonstrable ability to work to own initiative and as part of a small team
