The tales of Reggie...
Day 1
Reggie came to the RSPCA in November 2017. He was under weight, nervous and extremely stressed. He spent his time in a state of acute anxiety, spinning around in tight circles.
At just one year old, Reggie was completely broken. He had spent his short life crated with no exercise or freedom.
His first taste of freedom was confusing, he had never walked on grass before, and the strange feeling under his paws caused further stress. His behaviour became increasingly erratic; the spinning increased, and he had started chewing his paws and tail. After numerous trips to the vets and endless worry, we were unsure of how to help Reggie...
4 months on and still waiting...
Reggie was then placed into emergency foster care. With loving care and determination from his new foster parents, Reggie started to come out of his shell; he started to enjoy the delights of a loving home. As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, there was some uncertainty as to whether Reggie would find his forever home...
Happily, ever after?...
Then, finally, there was light at the end of the tunnel for Reggie! A couple had seen Reggie and heard his sad story. They wanted to offer him the love and care that he deserved.
The couple had another dog. Reggie had not had exposure to life with a sibling, the question was, how he would settle in and adapt to yet another change? Settling in to a new home and fitting in with his new brother was a tense time!
Now... He is living the dream, with constant love, guidance and routine! With trips to the New Forest, a new-found freedom of running off lead and exploring new smells on walks, and even finding time to make new friends!
Reggie improves daily; he is happy, content and much loved. He enjoys his weekly visits to his training sessions, agility and obedience classes. He is still spinning but is now all due to excitement.
Be happy Reggie x
